HBGary seeks a senior analyst to assist in identifying and tracking cyber-threats originating primarily from the country of China. The threat analyst plays an integral role in this mission by serving as an expert resource in the collection, analysis, and presentation of data surrounding active, operating cyber threats. The analyst will characterize hacker threats based on origin, intent, and operating behaviors. A key responsibility will be tracking relationships between the Chinese state-owned agencies and Chinese military, and an ongoing campaign of industrial espionage activity being carried out against the US Department of Defense and associated defense contractors and manufacturing bases. The candidate should have a fluent and established relationship with the hacking subculture of China, and have direct existing knowledge of state-sponsored hacking activity. The analyst will be expected to continue his or her relationship with the hacking subculture of China and remain abreast of developing attack vectors, exploits, and remote-access tools. Experience with malware command-and-control schemes is considered a bonus. Candidate must be able to work legally in the United States. Ideally, this analyst will be located in HBGary’s U.S. California office. Relocation and work visa sponsorhsip is available.
